Qibla & places
Two ways to find the Qibla, a 360-degree tour of the Kaaba, and finding nearby mosques.
4.1Qibla compass
The Qibla direction is calculated from your location; your phone's compass tells you which way you're facing.
Compass mode
A compass dial with a Qibla marker on it. The dial rotates as you turn your phone.
- The direction you're facing is shown in degrees.
- When you find the Qibla, the color changes and your phone vibrates, so you'll know without looking at the screen.
Switching between modes
Use the on-screen button to switch between compass and map. Your last mode is remembered; that's the one you start with next time.
If the compass drifts
- Move your phone through the air in a figure-eight to recalibrate the compass.
- Move away from magnetic cases, wireless charging stands, metal desks, and speakers — they confuse the compass.
- Grant location permission; without it the compass is less accurate.
- Switch to map mode: the map relies on your location, not your phone's compass.
4.2Map mode
A line drawn from your location to the Kaaba shows the Qibla direction on the map.
On the map, a line is drawn from your position toward Makkah. The map rotates as you turn your phone, so you can match the line on the map with the direction in front of you.
Map buttons
- Zoom in and out.
- Return to my location. Brings the map back to your position after you've panned away.
- Dragging the map pauses rotation temporarily. Automatic alignment resumes when you return to your location.
When you face the Qibla
The line changes color and the target marker comes alive — the same signal as the vibration in compass mode.
4.3Kaaba 360° panorama
Explore the inside of Masjid al-Haram by dragging with your finger.
Qibla›Kaaba panorama button
The panorama opens full screen. Drag to look around and pinch with two fingers to zoom. A brief hint appears on opening and fades on its own.
The image is high resolution, so the first open can take a few seconds. After that it opens instantly.
4.4Nearby Mosques
See mosques around you on a map and get directions.
All›Nearby Mosques
Viewing on the map
The map centers on your location and shows nearby mosques with markers. Tap a marker and the mosque's name and distance appear on the card at the bottom. You can pan and zoom to look at other areas.
Getting directions
When you request directions, your phone's maps app opens with that address and navigation continues there.
Selecting a city manually isn't enough here. If permission is missing, the screen guides you to grant it.
