03 Part 03 of 11

Quran

Making the Quran reading experience your own: appearance, translation, audio recitation, Khatmah, and the Verse of the Day.

3.1Surah list and reading

All 114 surahs with Arabic text, translation, and transliteration.

Surah list

When you open the Quran section, the surahs are listed in order; each row shows the name, the Arabic script, and the verse count. Above the list are three shortcuts:

  • Continue where you left off. Jump back to the last verse you read.
  • Your Khatmah progress. How many juz and surahs you've read.
  • Your bookmarks. The verses and surahs you've marked.

Reading screen

When you open a surah, the verses appear one below the other. The buttons under each verse:

ButtonWhat it does
ListenStarts audio recitation from that verse
BookmarkMarks the verse so you can find it again
ShareSends the verse as text or as an image
CopyCopies the verse text
ReflectAsk questions about the verse and get an explanation

Tracking what you've read

The verses you read are recorded and rolled up into three numbers: verses read, surahs completed, and juz completed. These appear on the progress card in the surah list and on the Khatmah screen.

Completing a Khatmah

Once all 30 juz, 114 surahs, and 6,236 verses are marked as read, the app recognizes your Khatmah and shows a celebration card.

Reading offline

The Arabic Quran text ships with the app. Translation and transliteration texts open offline once you've downloaded them.

3.2Display settings

Text size, page layout, which texts are shown, and color.

PathQuranOpen a surahSettings icon

Text size

Use the slider. The change appears immediately; there's nothing to confirm.

List mode and book mode

ModeHow it looksWhen it works best
List modeVerses stacked vertically, each on its own card; you scrollReading with translation and transliteration
Book modeMushaf layout; you swipe pagesReading Arabic text only, or working on a Khatmah

Which texts to show

Each of the three texts can be toggled independently:

  • Arabic text — the verse itself.
  • Translation — its meaning in your chosen language.
  • Transliteration — the Arabic in Latin letters.
At least one must stay on

You can't turn off all three; there would be nothing left to read.

Page color and highlight

The reading page has its own paper color, independent of the app's overall look: warm sepia, green, gray, or default.

You can also choose the highlight color shown behind the verse being recited during audio playback: green, gold, red, dark blue, pink, or orange.

Arabic font

Eight calligraphy options: Amiri, Cairo, Noto Naskh, Noto Kufi, Scheherazade New, Tajawal, Lalezar, and IndoPak Nastaleeq. IndoPak uses the waqf-marked script familiar in the Indian subcontinent.

3.3Translation and transliteration

Pick the language you want to read the translation in and download it.

Choosing a translation

PathQuranSettingsTranslation

Pick your language from the list. If it isn't on your phone yet, the download starts automatically:

  • Progress is shown as a percentage.
  • You can download several languages at the same time; one doesn't wait for another.
  • You're notified when a download finishes, and the translation is ready to use.
  • If a download is interrupted, you're alerted and can try again.

Choosing a transliteration

Transliteration is picked on a separate screen. Not every language has one; those that do are marked in the list.

When you change the app language

The translation switches to the new language too, starting a download if needed. If the translation briefly stays in the old language, that download is still in progress.

3.4Audio recitation

The verse being recited is followed on screen as you listen.

Choosing a reciter

Switch between recordings by different reciters from the player. Listening continues from where you left off.

Following the recited verse

The verse being recited is highlighted and the page scrolls to it. Tap any verse to continue listening from there.

Playback speed

You can slow the recitation down or speed it up — from half speed to double speed. Slowing down helps when memorizing; speeding up helps when re-listening.

Playback outside the app

  • Recitation continues when you switch to other tasks.
  • You can pause and skip from the lock screen and control center.
  • Headphone buttons and car connections work.
  • When your phone rings, audio pauses and resumes after the call.

When the surah ends

You decide what happens: it can repeat from the beginning, stop, or move to the next surah.

Premium

A premium promotion may appear when you start audio recitation. You can dismiss it and keep listening.

3.6Khatmah tracking

Plan a full reading of the Quran and track your progress.

PathQuranKhatmah card

What's on the screen

  • Your progress. Juz, surahs, and verses completed.
  • Continue reading. Return to where you left off.
  • Your reading history. Which days you read and how much.
  • Completion date. When you want to finish.

Setting a date and reminders

Pick a completion date and the app calculates how much to read each day, then reminds you on that schedule. It's the most practical way to plan a one-month Khatmah during Ramadan.

3.7Verse of the Day

One verse every day

A verse is selected for each day and shown as a card on the Home screen. The same verse appears in the widgets. Verses are prepared in advance, so the Verse of the Day works without internet.

Tap the card for the full verse, its translation, and sharing options.

Reflecting on a verse Premium

Open a chat to ask questions about any verse and get an explanation. The chat focuses on that verse and opens with a greeting.

Ready-made questions sit above the text field; tap one to send it. For example:

  • What is the simple meaning of this verse?
  • How can I apply this verse to my life?
  • Suggest a short dua for this verse.
  • What was happening at the time this verse was revealed?
  • Are there other verses related to this one?
  • How can I explain this verse to children?

Previous chats stay in the list. You can return to the same verse and continue.

About these explanations

The explanations are meant to aid understanding and don't replace tafsir sources. For matters requiring a religious ruling, consult a qualified authority.

3.8Surah Ya-Sin

A dedicated screen for those who read Ya-Sin regularly.

PathAllSurah Ya-Sin

Ya-Sin can also be opened from the Quran section, but this screen gives direct access and has its own layout. It carries everything the Quran reading screen offers:

  • Display settings — text size, page color, which texts to show, Arabic font.
  • List and book mode, with a preview.
  • Reciter selection, speed control, verse following, and playback outside the app.
  • In-surah search, verse sharing, and bookmarks.
